Beau Nixon // Interview 05 June 2011
By: Andrew Cassidy Location: One Mile Beach
Australian Paddle Surfer Magazine caught up with Beau Nixon as he stepped off the podium after being crowned the 2011 NSW State SUP Champion. Here's what he had to say:

A big weekend hey?
Oh a huge weekend. I had to surf so many times. I was thinking of going in the race but just couldn't do it.
So what about these conditions?
The conditions were good. I thought yesterday was fun actually. It was big, I got smashed, snapped my legrope plug out - but it was good. The surf is great here, pretty much the same conditions two years in a row now.
Your board is looking really good under your feet. What is it?
It's a pretty new one, I'm really enjoying it. It's a C4 Waterman 8'6" x 27.5" x 4".
You snagged a set in the dying minutes of the final and scored the highest wave score of the entire event, a 9.8, to take the lead. How did that feel
Yeah, that wave just came to me. I was just in the right spot at the right time and knew I had to go to town on it to overtake Roger (Saunders). It was one of the few that opened up and let me do a few turns on it. (Beau did a really critical reo, a massive hack and then boosted a little air on the end section).
And the level of surfing this year?
Oh, insane. Right from the first round and also in the Over 35s and the Womens - it was just incredible. It was great to watch.
So where's this great result going to take you next?
Well I'll be heading to the Aussie Titles again and trying to get one better than my second place last year (laughs). I'd like to do a few events on the SUP World Tour next year and definitely the one in Victoria in November this year.
Well good luck with all that.
Thanks Andrew. Cheers.
