Last Day // Session 31 December 2010
By: Andrew Cassidy Location: Northern Beaches
The beach on a beautiful, warm morning with great waves, clean water and light off-shore winds is always going to be crowded in a bustling metropolis. Add to that, a day that is dead smack in the middle of the Christmas holiday period and it's going to get downright ridiculous. The last day of 2010 on the Northern Beaches was just like that.
I'd been out for about an hour with the first half of that relatively uncrowded. There were some really fun waves and I was having a ball. As the numbers of revellers slowly increased my enthusiasm consequentially decreased. Drop-ins were bountiful and aggression was rife. Every type of surf craft was present that morning and it had our little beach stretched to capacity.
Dan Cleary from DTM Paddle Boards and Roger Peters from Panda SUP arrived in the next influx of pre-breakfast beach-goers. I made the decision to cut my session shorter than usual and make use of the fun waves and great light to shoot the local board builders putting their equipment through its paces.
This is what I got...

And here is a little video of the action...
